Banquet

Last week was a very stressful one. I was in school about 12 to 13 hours each day, going to regular classes, being apart of group projects and working. I work at multicultural services at school, which means I help organize, plan, and coordinate the International Student Association. For me now as a beginner I've only had to plan one banquet for 160 people so far. :)
The banquet was on Friday night, and it turned out better than we'd been foreshadowed. As far as having a team to help us plan, we've had a very inconsistent one, and relied on them perhaps too much. Important people haven't showed up when planned, and for the international fashionshow we hosted, only three out of the 15 models showed up on rehersal day. Talk about school spirit.
We also had problems with video camera people, and editing people. We'd made this cool video, which was supposed to be like a link throughout the whole evening, but when film day came, the guy who was supposed to film didn't show up. Luckily we had a back up girl who could do it. But when it came time to edit, there was again a no-show. Four days before the event, after going through plan a, b and c, we resulted to plan d, which was to ask Christen to edit. He came through, and did a great job with it. (the only problem was that the sound got deleted, and when it was an hour before the event we found out, and couldn't find Christen anywhere, so I tried my best to fix it by myself, but it was not nearly as proffesional or correct....)
Then two days before the big evening of the year, there was an email awaiting, saying that our host (programleder), was unable to come to the banquet, because he was having his wisdom teeth pulled that Friday. So what were we to do? Well, we had to resort to doing the only thing possible. So Olga, my boss and director of multicultural services, ended up being the host. It wasn't smooth sailing, but at least we had someone to say "and now Marianne will be singing a Norwegian song". Yup, you read it. I sang a song. Bjorn Eidsvaag, skyfri himmel. I used an umbrella as a prop, and apparently did really well. I was angry though, cause you could hear how nervous I was in the beginning. haha:)

Sorry. I wrote this blog a week ago, but didn't publish it... But now you know what went on:)
and this weekend I'm in 3 student films! I am so excited:) I am really getting involved. Having so much fun!
And in two weeks I'll be in Norway! We are so excited!
